Moldovan president meets Latvian counterpart

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/- The first meeting during the New York visit of President Igor Dodon was held with President of Latvia Egil Levits. Dodon congratulated Egil Levits on his election as President, which took place on May 29, 2019, wishing him success and great achievements, the presidential press service has reported.

The officials pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic relations on September 1, 1992, bilateral cooperation has evolved intensively, including at the executive level. At the same time, the sides expressed their common opinion on the conduct of mutual visits at the level of head of state.

The Moldovan president praised Latvia’s assistance to our country in promoting democratic reforms and conducting educational and humanitarian programs. Also, the head of state noted the productive cooperation between local public administrations of our countries.

In terms of commercial reports, the officials found an increased volume in 2018 compared to 2017 and opted for the full use of the potential in the area.
