Moldovan top court's head without immunity, to be investigated

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/- The head of the Supreme Court of Justice, Ion Druta, remained on 24 September without immunity and will be investigated. The information was confirmed by the General Prosecutor's communicator, Emil Gaitur, who noted that the criminal investigation was ordered on behalf of the magistrate.
Sources in the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office say that the magistrate will be investigated including for illicit enrichment.
Today members of the Superior Council of Magistracy responded to the request of acting prosecutor Dumitru Robu on lifting the immunity of a judge. CSM members did not make public the name of the magistrate.
Ion Druta was temporarily removed from office by the CSM in June, and returned to work on July 24, following a decision by the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
