Moldovan economics ministry says dozens of schemes of public money's embezzlement disclosed in first 100 days of mandate

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/ - Dozens of schemes of public money’s embezzlement have been disclosed in the first 100 days of the new cabinet’s work. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Vadim Brinzan made statements to this effect while presenting the government’s activity report.
Vadim Brinzan noted that, after the taking over of the mandate, decision-makers started analyzing the economy’s sectors were monopolies had been created and analyzed dubious transactions which took place under contracts on granting to concession and privatization and which embezzled the state’s wealth. “We prepared the files for the Chisinau International Airport, Air Moldova, Bus Terminals and Stations and we submitted them to the Prosecutor General’s Office and Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office,” the minister said.
At the same time, the ministry worked out a package of laws aimed at de-monopolizing the enterprise Metalferos and liberalizing the market of export of metal waste. In this respect, in late next October, an extraordinary assembly of the Metalferos stockholders will be held, during which the enterprise’s leadership is scheduled to be changed and afterwards an audit of the company’s financial situation is to be carried out.
As for the road transport sector, Vadim Brinzan said that decision-makers were presently working on a draft law to this end, so that the carriers’ demands of increasing the tariffs are accompanied by clear-cut rules of improving the quality of the services provided. At the same time, the economics minister said that the Good Roads programme had been revised from the viewpoint of ensuring the fairness of money distribution.
„To ensure a real economic growth, we need to disclose the schemes through which the state was embezzled and to de-monopolize the sectors of the economy,” Brinzan noted.
Prime Minister Maia Sandu today unveiled the cabinet’s activity report for the first 100 days of mandate.
