Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon has come up with a reaction to the processes taking place in the judicial system, the presidential press service has reported.
In the reaction, the head of state said:
„Being constitutionally empowered with the competence of appointing magistrates to office, I keep a close eye on the phenomena and processes taking place in the judicial system.
In the last days, I have been recording a tension in the interaction between the Superior Council of the Magistracy (CSM) and some of the magistrates, dissensions which eventually reached the table of the judges of the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
I remind that the ruling coalition fully committed to reform the judicial system, a vital necessary reform, supported by Moldova’s President as well.
Even so, the judicial system, which is under reformation, is to be provided full independence and all the evaluation processes must remain outside the influence of the political factor, with the attraction of a group of independent and well-known experts.
The subject of self-administration is exclusively an internal one of the judicial system and the political factor should by no means make interferences in the process of self-administration and organization of justice. The concerned system cannot be imposed a self-administration corps, another but the one nominated by the judges themselves, according to the constitutional provisions.
At the same time, the events taking place in the justice segment must not pursue the goal of sabotaging the reformation process, but of getting closer to the democratic standards and people’s expectations and are to be carried out under the imperative of the national and international standards.
Thus, I urge all sides in charge of the reform underway to accept the desideratum according to which the law is the only which rules all phenomena.
I reaffirm the position of Moldova’s President – the guaranteeing of the independence of justice is the pillar of the creation and strengthening of the rule of law state and any interference of the political factor is inadmissible.”
