Moldovan president meets counterpart of Kazakhstan

Chisinau, 26 September /MOLDPRES/- Following the visit to New York, President Igor Dodon had a meeting with President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokaev, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state noted the understandings reached at the 28 May meeting in Nur-Sultan, where it was agreed on strengthening the bilateral dialogue in several areas of common interest, including the opening of embassies in Chisinau and Nur-Sultan. In this context, the sides discussed the possibility of mutual visits at executive and legislative level in 2020.
In terms of the economic relations between Moldova and Kazakhstan, the officials were unanimous on the need to boost efforts in the field in order to fully use the existing potential. At the same time, the sides noted that the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission for economic cooperation was not convened for 4 years, which does not correspond to the spirit of our partnership.
At the end of the meeting, Igor Dodon and Kasîm-Jomart Tokaev agreed to continue the bilateral dialogue at the Eurasian Economic Union Summit, due in Yerevan on 1 October.
