Prime Minister Maia Sandu made statements to this effect. “I thanked Igor Bordian for his personal involvement in this case and citizens’ evacuation in time. We also spoke about the difficulties he faces in his capacity of inspector and about what all of us can do to feel safe in our country. We will take into account his suggestions, including the improvements which can be made to the legal framework, in order to prevent such cases in the long run. We need such people as Igor Bordian in all sectors, who do their job honestly and who put the lives and well-being of people above all,” Maia Sandu wrote on her official page on a social network.
The staircase of a nine-storied block of apartments collapsed in the Otaci town, Ocnita district, on 19 June 2019. No victims were registered. Inspector Igor Bordian was the one who insisted on the residents to be evacuated urgently.
