Exhibition about Polish, Romanian women changing the world inaugurated in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 27 September /MOLDPRES/ – There was opened an outdoor exhibition: The Polish and Romanian women which changed the world, on Friday, 27 September, at the National Museum of History of Moldova (MNIM).
The event was organised by the Polish Institute in Bucharest, Embassy of Poland in Chisinau and the host institution.
Interviewed by agency, the director of the Polish Institute in Bucharest, Agnieszka Skieterska, has mentioned that the exhibition contains the fascinating stories of 34 women which had the courage to change their country, Europe and the world.
This exhibition describes personalities which, more or less, are known to the general public. Among the protagonists of exhibition – 17 Poles and 17 Romanians – were fighters for independence or women's rights, as well as pioneers in the field of science or sport. Due to their moral determination and strength, there can be said that we live better today," said the head of the Polish Institute in Bucharest.
Attending the event, the Ambassador of Poland in Chisinau, Bartlomiej Zdaniuk, has said that the exhibition was realised by the Polish Institute in Bucharest on the occasion of the Centenary of regaining of the Independence of Poland and of the Great Union of Romania. According to official, this is also in the context of the celebration of Women's Rights Year, proclaimed by the Polish Parliament on the occasion of marking 100 years since the Polish women obtained full voting rights.
The exhibition presents several personalities from Poland and Romania: Sarmiza Bilcescu Alimanisteanu, the first woman lawyer in Europe, Helena Wiewierska, the first woman lawyer in Poland, Maria Balan, the Romanian queen of spies, the most dangerous enemy on the Eastern front in WWI, Krystyna Skarbek, the first woman in British secret services etc.
The exhibition is open until 30 November.
