Driver triggering traffic accident in Moldovan capital called to account five times

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - The woman driving the Porsche vehicle, who on 30 September collided with trolley bus in the Buiucani district of Chisinau, did not have driver’s licence. She has 43 official reports for various traffic contraventions and five criminal actions at law. The woman was also imprisoned at the Rusca-based jail, after she had triggered more accidents, driving drunk.   

At a news conference, the acting head of the General Police Inspectorate, Gheorghe Balan, has said that the woman aged 33 was in the focus of the police back before 2010, when she was criminally prosecuted, but escaped with just a fine. “The second time, the person was called to account on 15 May 2010. While driving a BMW at the intersection of the Ion Creanga and Bucuresti Streets, she was stopped by the police to establish the drunkenness degree. At that time, a fine was imposed against her. Afterwards, on 31 December 2016, the Porsche car was stopped on the 31 August Street in the Orhei city, the driver being in advanced drunkenness. She was found guilty and was sentenced to four months of imprisonment. Yet, the punishment was postponed for three years. Subsequently, the driver, driving drunk the Porsche car, collided with another vehicle. On 6 July 2018, the woman was ceased by patrol agents, who found out that she was driving without driver’s licence. Following the incident, the court ruled to cumulate the latest contraventions and punished the woman with six months of imprisonment,” Balan said.     

The woman, who is mother of a minor child, has 43 contravention official reports, most of them for driving without safety belt – eight reports, ignoring road signs – five reports, exceeding the speed limit, driving the vehicle without tech inspection and leaving the place of accident.

The IGP leadership said that the Porsche vehicle had already been subjected to technical testing and the people injured in the accident, as well as witnesses would be heard. The driver, who is currently hospitalized in the intensive therapy section,  will be questioned too. Law-enforcers noted that more witness of the traffic accident said that the speedometer of Porsche was showing a speed of 130 km/hour.   

Policemen also said that, in the wake of the accident, 28 people, among whom two children, had been wounded and a man born in 1986 died. Today morning, only ten persons involved in the accident remained hospitalized at the Emergency Medicine Institute. The driver of Porsche is also among the people remaining in hospital. Law-enforcers said that biological samples had been collected, which are to show whether she was driving drunk.     

If found guilty of triggering a traffic accident with dead people, the woman runs the risk of being sentenced up to seven years of imprisonment.  

The accident, in the wake of which 28 people were injured and one person died, took place at the intersection of the Alba Iulia blvd and Onisifor Ghibu Street on 30 September at 14:08. A Porsche Cayenne vehicle, driven with high speed by a  33-year-old woman driver, collided with a trolley bus heading on the route No 21 and pushed it to the footway.
