Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) today launched a campaign on the prevention of intoxications with carbon dioxide as a result of the wine fermentation process. Within the campaign, rescuers will inform people producing wine about the danger and risks of intoxications.
The IGSU leadership informed that the campaign would last all October and rescuers would go to private households and would warn residents about the measures which must be undertaken to avoid tragedies.
In this context, the IGSU management urges citizens not to enter the rooms where wine is fermenting, if they are not endowed with appropriate ventilation. Nevertheless, if they rule to enter cellars where there are barrels with grapes must, they should first check the quantity of oxygen with a candle. An extinguished candle means lack of oxygen.
IGSU’s data shows that three persons have suffered since the beginning of the fermentation period in 2019, of whom two ones died. Another at least six persons died for the same reasons in 2018.
