Nine victims of traffic accident from Moldovan capital's Buiucani district remain hospitalized

Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - Nine persons injured in the wake of the traffic accident in the Buiucani district of Chisinau remain put in the Emergency Hospital. The woman who was in the reanimation sector two days feels better and was transferred to a specialized section and the woman driver who triggered the accident remains in a serious health condition at the intensive therapy section. The leadership of the Emergency Medicine Institute from the Moldovan capital presented information to this effect at a news briefing today.   

According to the medical deputy director, Igor Curov, another victim of the accident was operated on at the thighbone today. The woman driver remains connected to the directed respiration apparatus and most likely, she will need more surgical interventions. “The rest of the patients are in a satisfactory state and benefit from treatment according to protocols,” Curov said.  

Igor Curov noted that, after the 30 September accident, 25 people had been brought  to the Emergency Medicine Hospital: 15 women and 10 men. The youngest patient was 19 years old and the oldest one – 67.   

The serious accident from the Buiucani district was also discussed at a cabinet meeting today. PM Maia Sandu demanded that the competent structures toughen the legislation against drivers driving drunk.

Also today, Health, Labour and Social Protection Ala Nemerenco informed that the woman driver who triggered the accident had had a level of alcohol in the expired air of 2.15 mg/litre.  

The accident, in the wake of which 25 people were injured and one passenger died, took place at the intersection of the Alba Iulia blvd and Onisifor Ghibu Street on 30 September. A Porsche Cayenne vehicle, driven with high speed by a 33-year-old woman driver, collided with a trolley bus heading on the route No 21 and pushed it to the footway.
