Moldova to mark National Food Day on 16 October

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/- On 16 October, the National Food Day will be marked in Moldova. The parliament's decision on the matter will be published tomorrow in the Official Journal of Moldova.
According to the decision, the establishment of this holiday day will help raise public awareness on the need for investments in agriculture, promoting the principles of healthy agriculture, leading to healthy eating.
World Food Day is celebrated worldwide since 1981. Today, over 150 countries mark the holiday. The UN General Assembly called on governments and international organizations to mark this holiday in order to raise public awareness on global food issues and strengthen solidarity in the fight against hunger, malnutrition and poverty.
