Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets EU high representative

Chisinau, 03 October /MOLDPRES/ – The options for boosting cooperation of Moldova and EU in the field of foreign policy and security were discussed, on Thursday, 03 October, during the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, with EU High Representative for foreign and security policy, Federica Mogherini, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
Minister Nicu Popescu reiterated the interest of Moldova in advancing bilateral cooperation with EU within strengthening the resilience of institutions, countering hybrid threats, strategic communication. Separately, it was mentioned the objective of Moldova to increase its contribution to EU crisis management missions and operations.
In the same context, the officials exchanged views on the results of the Association Council meeting held in Brussels on 30 September, noting that the event allowed a comprehensive assessment of implementation of the Association Agreement and set priorities in the future. "Achieving these goals will allow us to bring Moldova closer to EU for the benefit of its citizens," said Minister Popescu. It was also discussed the regional situation during the meeting.
