Winners of contest: Teacher of Year 2019 awarded in Moldova

Chisinau, 04 October /MOLDPRES/ – The best teachers of year 2019 were awarded on Friday, 04 October, in Chisinau municipality, within a festive event attended by almost 2,000 teachers from all over Moldova.

The event, which took place at the National Palace Nicolae Sulac, was dedicated to the International Day of Education Workers, marked 05 October.

Thus, teacher of biology at the Theoretical High School Mihai Marinciuc in Chisinau, Anton Dorofeev, obtained the first prize and title: Instructor of the Year. The teacher at the Theoretical High School Ion Luca Caragiale in Orhei, Doina Gliga, was designated with title: Teacher of the Year. Title: Educator of the Year was obtained by educator at the Institution of early education №05 Licurici Aurelia Muntean, from Ialoveni.

The festival was also attended by Prime Minister, Maia Sandu. "Every time I am among you, I am filled with hope. The hope that, thanks to you, the light of the teaching will light up in every child equally, whether it is in a village or city of the country. The hope that together we can provide school children with more attractive, complete and timely school books on their desks. I hope we can make schools more welcoming for our children and young people, and this is not just in big cities. I hope that the school can, through you, bring the parents and grandparents closer, who will leave their children and grandchildren at school with the certainty that they will return better," said PM.

The Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Liliana Nicolaescu – Onofrei, has said that the most important people in Moldova are people who are passionate about education, they are educators, teachers, lecturers and education managers. The minister also urged young people to work in the field of education, so as to "become those important people who can change the lives of others".

The celebration dedicated to the Day of Education Workers continued with a concert.
