Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ - Settlements of Moldova can put up their candidacies for getting the title, Youth Capital 2020. The winner of the programme, launched in Chisinau today, will benefit from support worth about one million lei through the carrying out of activities dedicated to young people. The participation files can be submitted till 8 November 2019.

The state secretary at the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, Adrian Balutel, today said that the programme provided for the selection of a settlement, where youth activities will be carried out during one year, including the youth festival on the International Youth Day. The progamme is inspired from the European practice. ‘’The programme has been held in Moldova starting from 2011 and its goal is to focus on youth activities in a certain settlement, which is willing to put emphasis on youth. In this respect, two positive things take place. On the one hand, emphasis is put on young people from Moldova, who are able to benefit from more activities and more opportunities and on the other hand – the programme is a chance of the winner settlement’s development,’’ Balutel said.  .

The programme’s winner will benefit from support worth one million lei, provided to the settlement indirectly, including through non-governmental organizations from the settlement or programmes and activities backed by the central authorities.

The authorities of the local public administrations of level I, as well as the cities classified as local public authorities of the level II can apply for the programme. The Chisinau municipality, as well as the settlements which have held the title of Youth Capital in the last three years, represent exception. The file will contain, in particular, an action plan the settlement is planning to implement in the youth sector during the year and a declaration on financial support on behalf of the local public administration to back the carrying out of activities. The acts can be submitted starting from today till 8 November.

The Youth Capital 2020 programme is at its tenth issue in 2019. The Costesti village, central Ialoveni district, holds the title of Youth Capital this year.
