Training workshop on ecological agriculture held in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 07 October /MOLDPRES/ – An interactive seminar with Moldovan mass media, entitled: Organic Agriculture in understanding of journalists: from myth to tasting, has been held in Chisinau municipality, on Monday, 07 October.

The event was organised by Company EtnoGastronomica SRL in partnership with project: Development of sustainable organic farming, funded by the Czech Agency for Development (CAD).

Interviewed by agency, the director of Company EtnoGastronomica SRL, Tamara Schiopu, has mentioned that the event purpose was to explain to journalists the risks of erroneous reports with reference to organic, healthy, natural foods, and reminding them to pay more attention when issue info on organic goods.

"Our goal is to explain how eco products are identified, how they can be distinguished from the fake ones, and also, we should like to create some partnerships with mass media, so as to deliver this info from the first source. It was an interactive seminar, in which there have also participated producers, while the reporters have had an opportunity to convince on spot which products are truly organic and which are false, so that they understand this process”, said the director of the company in charge.

According to Tamara Schiopu, the manufacturer must have an organic product certificate. "The packaged product is marked with a special logo. We find international markings on EU organic products. The Moldovan products also contain a symbol, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and the Environment (MADRM), and the logo must also contain a certificate number”, specified Tamara Schiopu.

Attending the event, the representative of MADRM, Marcela Stahi, has brought to the notice of journalists and producers the conditions for the release of the national certification mark for organic goods, in accordance with law №115 of 2005 on green agrifood production. Similarly, Marcela Stahi has informed the assistance that, at present, a new law is being developed, linked to EU legislation.

This was the second seminar on this theme, organised by Company EtnoGastronomica SRL, after the one in 2015.

At present, there are almost 100 producers which practice organic farming in Moldova.
