Former leader of Democrats summoned to Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/- Former leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova / PDM /, Vlad Plahotniuc, is being investigated for money laundering in very large amounts. He was summoned to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (PA) as a suspect.
According to the PA press service, the institution uses this public notification given that there is no other way to inform Plahotniuc about summoning to the prosecutor.
Prosecutor Alexandru Cernei asks Vlad Plahotniuc to appear on 9 October at 10.00 am at the Prosecutor's Office, accompanied by a defender. If not presented without giving reasons, he risks being fined under the law.
The former leader has not appeared in public in Moldova since June 14, 2019, when the Democrats withdrew from the government.
