Budget for 2020 must be directed to developing Moldova’s economy – speaker says

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/- Next budget must be directed to developing the country's economy, and foreign loans - for infrastructure and investment projects. The position was expressed today by Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi at a meeting with Ruben Atoyan, the head of the Mission of the International Monetary Fund and Volodymyr Tulin, IMF Resident Representative in Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
According to the speaker, internal resources, expansion of the budget base, economic development, investments are sources to cover consumption, while the credits must be contracted from all available sources for investment projects, especially infrastructure.
The speaker noted the importance of promoting social policies necessary for Moldovan residents.
The sides approached all issues related to banks, non-banking sector, tariffs and budget for next year. Bank robbery and reports presented by parliamentary committees of inquiry were also addressed during the meeting.
A team of experts of the International Monetary Fund, led by Ruben Atoyan, was on a working visit to Chisinau on October 2-8, 2019. The mission updated information on recent economic developments and discussed the policies promoted by the authorities to maintain macroeconomic and fiscal stability, including in the context of the state budget for 2020.
