Moldovan electoral body starts printing ballots for local elections

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission (CEC) started today printing ballots for local elections on 20 October. Over 7.8 million ballots are to be printed, and over 3.6 million lei will be spent in this regard.
The first ballots were printed today at the Universul Publishing House.
CEC head Dorin Cimil said today that the ballots length differs, depending on the number of candidates enrolled. The shortest ones are for the localities where a candidate for the position of mayor or local councilor was registered. The longest one is the ballot for the election of the Comrat municipal council, where 61 candidates were registered.
Of the total of over 7.8 million ballots, 6.104 million will be in Romanian and over 1.688 million - in Russian. For the position of mayor, 2,194 million ballots will be printed and they will be pink. For the position of adviser of level I, 2,194 million ballots will be printed, which will be gray. For the position of district / municipal councilor, 2.6 million ballots will be printed and will be beige. For the position of mayor of Chisinau and mayor of Balti, about 740 thousand ballots will be printed, which will be purple.
The ballots will have 14 signs of protection.
898 mayors and 11,580 local councilors will be elected at the local elections on October 20, of which 1,810 district / municipal councilors and 10,472 village and city councilors.
