Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/ - The former deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, head of the Special Messengers’ Bureau, Valeriu Camartan and the head of the Prosecutors’ Association, Alexandru Cladco, today were heard by the members of the inquiry commission for elucidating the de facto and de jure circumstances concerning the attempt of anti-constitutional coup d’etat, undertaken by the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) though the Constitutional Court (CCM) and Prosecutor General’s Office. PDM informed that no MP or party member of the Democrats would come to the hearings organized by this commission.

According to the head of the commission, Mihai Popsoi, the former government’s secretary general, Lilia Palii, was to be heard at the today’s meeting too. Popsoi also said that the head of the Prosecutors’ Association, Alexandru Cladco, had been asked about a letter signed by 612 out of those 637 prosecutors of Moldova to support the former governance. Cladco noted that the goal of that letter had been other but the declaring of support for the PDM governance.

Popsoi said that the Democrats’ refusal to come to hearings “disregard the citizens’ will to learn the truth,” stressing that the commission members had enough information about what had happened in Moldova in last early June.

The commission will come up with a detailed report on the situation from 8-14 June 2019 till late 2019 and the other former officials will be heard during October.

The Democratic Party of Moldova today said that no PDM lawmaker or other member of the Democrats would participate in the so-called “witch hunt,” which has a single goal: “to intimidate and denigrate the main opposition force, PDM, in the full swing of the electoral campaign.”
