Hunting season for ducks starts in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/ - The hunting season for ducks and bald coots has been opened. These birds could be hunted till 29 December 2019. In this context, the police warned amateurs of this kind of activity to observe all security rules as to the use of guns.   

Thus, on a sector of one hectare, four hunters are allowed to hunt at the most and they can shoot only in birds which fly, except for wounded birds fallen in water. Also, to avoid accidents, it is prohibited to shoot in birds at a distance larger than 35-40 metres or if the birds fly at a height smaller than five metres.     

The police also reminded hunters that the guns can be borne only by the owner of the gun permit and that hunters are obliged to bear equipment or waistcoats of the yellow-green or intense orange colours. At the same time, the charging of the gun before the time indicated for starting the hunting and the shooting in settlements or nearby the latter is categorically banned.   

Law-enforcers said that the bullet shot from smooth-bore hunting gun is dangerous up to a distance of 1,000 metres, combat pellets – up to 600 metres, pellets of medium size – up to 300 metres.     

The General Police Inspectorate asked hunters to be responsible and observe the security requirements in the use of fire-guns, in order to avoid eventual incidents. Contravention or criminal sanctions are imposed for the allowing or intended committing of an incident, with the cancellation of the gun permit. A new gun permit can be got only after a five-year period.
