Socialists willing to increase pensions for 100,000 Moldovans

Chisinau, 28 January /MOLDPRES/ - The parliamentary faction of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) will work out a draft law on increasing the pensions for 100,000 Moldovans.

A PSRM lawmaker, Vladimir Odnostalco, told a today’s news briefing that it was about the pensioners who retired before 1999 and have a lower pension than the one of the people who retired after 2000.

”Their pension was calculated based on the old law and not of the present legislation in force. These persons have a pensionable length of service of 40-50 years, but receive a lower pension against those who have the same length of pensionable service, but retired after 2000,” Odnostalco said.

Statistics data shows that about 100,000 Moldovan citizens retired before 1999.
