Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu participated today in the events dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the State Protection and Guard Service /SPPS /.
According to the Press Service of the presidential institution, Maia Sandu congratulated SPPS employees for their profession - one that requires courage, serious training and a lot of dedication, thanked them for the awards and medals they bring from various international sports competitions and wished them to persevere professionally.
"I appreciate your effort, because I know how demanding this work can be, and often you don't have weekends or holidays. I also want to remind you that there are many irregularities in SPPS. We know that, unfortunately, the Service has been used in various cases for the benefit of narrow interests, not in the national interest. We know that many of the SPPS employees are dissatisfied with the way things happened, that people without merit were promoted or with the political indications that were given ", Sandu said.
The official noted that this approach does not belong to such an institution, which must not only ensure the protection of public persons and institutions, but also provide a sense of security to all our citizens. In this context, Maia Sandu said she is aware that a number of investigations are being carried out at SPPS on several abusive actions and voiced hope that the investigations will have a finality. "I hope that the SPPS will become an institution that fulfills its mission with dignity, and the officers of the Service will be proud of their profession, to be regarded with respect and trust," she said.
The president said that there are many responsible, brave and honest people in SPPS. "You will find support in me. I and my colleagues will support the reform of the institution, so that good people will be promoted and no one will force them to act against the law ", Maia Sandu said.
