Moldova, India sign documents on migration, energy and diplomatic cooperation

Chisinau, Dec. 16 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova and India have signed several documents on migration, energy and diplomatic cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi and his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar signed the documents.
The two officials signed a declaration of intent on migration. It will open new opportunities for cooperation in the field of labor mobility and exchange of expertise.
Popșoi also signed the document on Moldova's membership of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), which will allow strengthening cooperation in the energy sector, in particular in the green energy.
At the same time, a Memorandum of Understanding between the diplomatic institutions of the foreign ministries of the two countries was also signed, marking an important step in developing diplomatic skills and facilitating the exchange of experience between the Republic of Moldova and India.
During an official meeting, the heads noted the positive evolution of the political-diplomatic dialog and the visible trend of reinvigorating bilateral trade exchanges. Popșoi expressed Moldova's interest in strengthening bilateral relations by intensifying cooperation in areas such as agriculture, education, culture and health.
Popșoi also emphasized the importance of the recent inter-ministerial political consultations and the continuation of dialogue on trade and investment issues. The official also detailed the main priorities of the country's foreign policy, in particular carrying out the objective of integration into the European Union.
Another important topic discussed during the ministers' meeting was the progress made in liberalizing the export of fresh fruit from Moldova to India, with the parties to announce when the decision will enter into force. This is a significant step to diversify markets and increase the international competitiveness of our products.
The officials also discussed the prospects of an Indian aviation operator entering the Moldovan market and agreed to negotiate an aviation agreement to facilitate Indian investment in this sector.
Discussions between the foreign ministers also focused on recent developments in regional and international security, the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
Popșoi and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar participated in the official inauguration ceremony of the Moldovan Embassy in New Delhi.
On December 15-16, Popșoi is on a working visit to New Delhi, India, at the invitation of Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. On the agenda are topics of mutual interest, with a focus on deepening political-diplomatic, economic and trade cooperation.
