Moldovan government to allocate over 41 million lei to pay allowances to employees infected with COVID-19

Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - Over 41 million lei will be allocated from the government’s intervention fund to the central and local public administration authorities for providing one-off allowances to the employees infected with COVID-19 while exercising their job duties. The acting cabinet of ministers took a decision to this effect at a meeting today.  

Under the cabinet decision, almost 15 million lei will be directed to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry. Also, the Defence Ministry, Prosecutor General’s Office, Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, Constitutional Court, Superior Council of Magistracy, National Centre for Personal Data Protection, local councils of Moldova’s cities and districts, the executive committee of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia will also receive money for allowances to the people infected with coronavirus.  

The aforementioned public authorities will process the documents needed for financing the concerned expenses, through the institutions where the beneficiary people work.  

The employees infected with COVID-19 will benefit from one-off allowances worth 16,000 lei, in line with an Instruction by Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations from 17 April 2020.
