Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has put forward Natalia Gavrilita for the office of prime minister. The head of state made statements to this affect at a news briefing minutes before.
„I gave Gavrilita the task to create the governmental team and prepare a governance programme focused on the economic development and cleaning the state’s institutions from corruption. I believe that the snap parliamentary elections represent the only way of getting out of the political impasse in which we have found ourselves. The citizens must have right to elect their lawmakers,’’ Sandu said.
The head of state specified that the parliamentary factions now would have to consider the candidacy. ‘’The factions will have possibility to show whether they really want snap polls or they tell lies,’’ Sandu noted.
Natalia Gavrilita held the position of finance minister in the cabinet led by Maia Sandu. Gavrilita has at her disposal 14 days to come in parliament with a team and a governance programme.
