Chisinau, 28 January /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s delegation repeatedly called on the sides to consider, to take attitude and identify solutions to the acute problems which continuously jeopardize the situation in the Security Zone and hit the current mechanisms of the peacekeeping operation, at a weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), held in Bender on 28 January.
According to the Reintegration Policies Bureau, the Moldovan delegation reiterated the inadmissibility of the provocative actions of the power-wielding structures subordinated to Tiraspol, manifested through the kidnapping of citizens, abusive setting of ‘’border guards’’’s posts or the displaying of weaponry at public events.
To optimize the work of the Joint Military Command and remove the divergences in the work of military observers, the Moldovan delegation repeatedly suggested the working out of a regulation which is to comprise all the already existent indications in a single act.
Regretfully, Tiraspol’s representatives did not change their destructive position tackled for a long time. They rejected not only the arguments of the Chisinau delegation, but also a compromise initiative, made at the meeting by Russia’s representatives, which might contribute to the de-blocking of the processes of documenting the posts in the Security Zone.
Ukraine’s representative was the one who backed the list of subjects proposed for discussion. He described as dysfunctional the peacekeeping mechanism at Dniester, taking into account the incapacity to remove the illegal posts and ensure the observance of the fundamental human rights in the perimeter of the Security Zone.
By non-accepting the agenda, the Transnistrian side blocked the opening of the meeting again.
Nevertheless, although it openly defies the basic acts of the peacekeeping operation, the Transnistrian region’s delegation tries to manipulate the public opinion and place responsibility on anyone for the prolonged failure of the JCC meetings and for the compromising of the present peacekeeping mechanism.
