Anniversary exhibition by Moldovan painter inaugurated in Chisinau

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - A personal exhibition of painting and tapestry by fine artist, Merited Woman, laureate of the National Prize Maria Saca-Racila was inaugurated at the National Art Museum of Moldova on 28 January, on the occasion of the fine artist’s 80th birthday anniversary.
The exhibition comprises 34 painting works and 15 tapestry ones.
Maria Saca-Racila was born in the Draganesti village, Balti county, on 11 February 1941. She studied at the Chisinau-based I. Repin Republican School of Fine Arts, specialty artistic tapestry (1955-1961). She made more Gobelin tapestry works for the Vasile Alecsandri Theatre from Balti and made more paintings. Maria Saca-Racila participated in group exhibitions in Bulgaria, Canada, France, Japan, Poland, USA, Sweden, Romania, Russia and other countries. Her works are in collections of Moldova’s National Art Museum, private collections from San Francisco (USA), Toronto (Canada), Moscow, etc. In 1987, the fine artist was awarded the honorific title, Merited Man of Arts from the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1996, she was awarded the Civic Merit medal and in 1998 – the National Prize.
The exhibition will be held till 21 February.
