Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today sent a message on the 30th anniversary of the National Olympic and Sports Committee, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The message says:
"The National Olympic and Sports Committee has reached its 30th anniversary. During the three decades, the governing body of the Olympic movement in Moldova has continuously enhanced its image both in the country and abroad.
It is the right time to pay tribute to those who founded the National Olympic Committee of independent Moldova and took the first steps towards assertion nationally and internationally. It is, first of all, the first President of the National Olympic Committee, Efim Josanu, Honorary President of CNOS. He strongly promoted the Olympic values, which made him on the honorary list of the distinguished personalities of Moldova. The news of his death strongly overshadowed the institution's anniversary, but, I am sure the memory of the illustrious sports journalist will be perpetuated in time.
I take this opportunity to express gratitude and respect to athletes and coaches, to all those who are at the forefront of sports in our country. We are aware of the degree of complexity of the task of preparing the national Olympic team, maintaining and developing the Olympic technical-material base, ensuring the dignified representation of the Republic of Moldova in the arena of international sports. All the more valuable is the work of those on whom Moldova's Olympic success depends.
At the same time, I would like to thank the National Olympic and Sports Committee for the active promotion of sports, healthy lifestyle, including through large-scale public actions. I hope that in the future you will bring your contribution and dedication to development of performance sports.
I take this opportunity to address the sports community and all sports fans in Moldova good health, happiness, prosperity and great performance ”.
