Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/- OSCE Special Representative for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting said today that all political actors in Chisinau and Tiraspol want to be involved in building confidence between sides.
"At all meetings held in Chisinau and Tiraspol, there was a desire to get involved in the implementation of confidence-building measures between the two banks," Thomas Mayr-Harting said.
He welcomed lifting checkpoints at the entrance in Transnistria and resuming the work of expert groups, considering the recent online meeting of health experts from Chisinau and Tiraspol.
The official noted that the lack of concrete results in the confidence-building process, which was recorded in 2020 was due to both the coronavirus pandemic and political processes that took place in Chisinau, and was optimistic about continuing confidence-building measures.
"OSCE Swedish Presidency will enable the implementation of gender-related projects in this region, which will contribute to building trust between the two banks," he said.
Thomas Mayr-Harting paid a visit to Moldova on 26-29 January to consider the current situation in the settlement process and identify priorities for 2021.
