Moldovan composer celebrates 80th birth anniversary

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/- Composer and choir conductor Eugen Mamot, People's Artist, holder of the Labor Glory Order turned 80 today.

Singer Zinaida Bolboceanu, People's Artist, said that Eugen Mamot discovered  love for music, and professor Alexei Colâbneac said that the conductor is a gifted teacher with the child's soul.

Eugen Mamot was born on January 30, 1941 in Clococenii Vechi, Glodeni district. In 1963, he graduated from the Music College of Slobozia, the choir conductor class. In 1968 - Gavriil Musicescu Institute of Arts, currently the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, and in 1984 - the second faculty within the same institution - the composition class.


He was also head of the Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture (1974-1976), editor-in-chief of the Chisinau Broadcasting Music Editorial Office (1976-1989), lecturer at the Gavriil Musicescu Conservatory in Chisinau (1989-1997), director artistic and first conductor of the Lia-Ciocârlia Music Studio (1990-2006).


He is author of over 300 vocal-symphonic works, instrumental, choral creations, folk works, music for children. He made countless musical arrangements of popular songs and lyrics. He has worked out with other authors several music textbooks for general school, scientific-methodical works, reviews and specialized articles.

In 2001, Eugen Mamot was awarded the Labor Glory Order and in 2011 he was awarded the honorary title People's Artist.
