Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/- For composer Paul Gamurari, President of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Moldova (UCMM), 2020 was a different year. "As a result of working remotely, having spent enough time at home, I had the opportunity to compose more," he said.

"The events organized by the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Moldova in 2020 happened differently. The International Festival New Music Days, the 29th edition, took place online, with international presences of performers and composers (Romania, Mexico, the Netherlands, Russia, USA, Italy, Canada, Spain, etc.). We enjoyed a large audience, who had the opportunity to watch the concerts online through Facebook and Youtube. The gala of the National Competition of Composition and Musicology took place later than usual - on October 15, with the presence of the winners, the members of the jury, as well as the online public. In November, the General Assembly of UCMM was held, where I have got my second term as president ", he said.

At the initiative of composer Ghenadie Ciobanu, UCMM launched the online platform Contemporary Classical Music, where members of the group have the opportunity to post interesting creations, discuss news in academic music and much more about contemporary music (and not just music). Within the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, where Paul Gamurari works as a university lecturer and vice dean of the Faculty of Musical Art, the teaching process is conducted online and with physical presence.

He became the winner of many national and international composition competitions, won the National Award for Youth, 2015 edition. He is currently President of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Moldova.
