11:00 | 30.01.2021 Category: Official

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/- Today Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi sent a message on the School Day of Non-violence and Peace, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The message says:

"Every year, on 30 January the Republic of Moldova marks the School Day of Non-violence and Peace. Our shared responsibility, the authorities and society as a whole is to provide a friendly environment for the development of all students. It is my deep conviction that only with a quality education, focused on respect, harmony and tolerance will we can grow strong and honest personalities.

Only through effective involvement and cooperation between central and local public authorities, school administrations, teachers, parents, civil society and the media will we be able to identify, combat and declare zero tolerance to violence. In 2020, the Moldovan government in cooperation with institutional partners carried out several awareness-raising activities to prevent and combat violence against children. Certainly, the most effective method is to change the attitude that encourages its concealment and to combat indifference.

I urge teachers, students, parents and every citizen to notify the competent bodies about cases of violence against children. Undoubtedly, this phenomenon affects the long-term and irretrievable child's personality development and academic results.

On this day, it is important to be aware of and turn to good account the role of the education system in preventing violence by fostering a model of behavior based on respect and non-acceptance of violence, solidarity and responsibility for permanent care for children."
