Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari today summoned a working meeting with the participation of decision-makers of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI), Public Property Agency (APP) and the manager of the state enterprise Bacul Molovata (Molovata Ferry), the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The participants in the meeting assessed the degree of implementation of the instructions given at a meeting of the governmental commission for Moldova’s reintegration from 19 August 2020 in the part concerning the easing of the flow of passengers, vehicles and goods by the ferryboats belonging to the state enterprise Bacul Molovata, through increasing the number of routes, setting an efficient calendar of scheduling, developing the infrastructure of waiting and the hygiene conditions, supply of an additional float, etc.
The participants in the meeting heard information presented by competent institutions as to the actions undertaken so far, difficulties faced in the process and the needs of assistance, in order to enhance the efficiency of the enterprise’s work and increase the capacities of transportation by ferryboats across the Dniester river. In 2020, because of the restrictions imposed by Tiraspol on the pandemic period, these ferryboats were exploited in a double volume against the 2019 year, with 85,000 vehicles carried (43,000 in 2019) and 212,000 passengers (131,400 in 2019).
The deputy prime minister highlighted the key role of these means for residents’ transportations, in the context of the problematic access by land of the settlements from the left bank of Dniester, as a result of the limitings artificially maintained by Tiraspol, as well as of the fact that the settlements Molovata Noua, Cocieri and Corjova from the eastern Dubasari district are supplied with food products and essential products by ferryboats.
In the context, the official demanded the mobilization of all efforts of the relevant actors, for the modernization, strengthening and completion with the needed infrastructure of the state enterprise Bacul Molovata, in order to enhance the capacity and volume of transportation, according to the present requirements and with the observance of the security norms, including by maintaining the functionality on the period of the unfriendly weather conditions and the freezing of the Dniester river.
