Mihai Eminescu National Theater: 100th anniversary of founding

Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/- On 6 October we will mark the 100th anniversary of founding of Mihai Eminescu National Theater (TNME) with the status of national theater. The establishment of the institution was influenced by several initiatives coming from some personalities of the Romanian culture and some cultural institutions.

The program of the Centenary Year 2021 of the Mihai Eminescu Theater in Chisinau takes place under the high patronage of President Maia Sandu and President of Romania Klaus Iohannis.

TNME director Petru Hadârcă said that in the summer of 1925, the director Ludovic Dauș was determined to renovate the rooms of the National Theater in Chisinau, even if the ministry had not allocated the necessary amount for the repair. The financial support came from the city council. Thus, repair works were carried out, the walls were plastered, painted and decorated, the equipment and clothing of the stage, as well as the furniture were partially renewed. And if he did not have money for capital repairs, Ludovic Dauș decided to change the appearance of the foyer, ie the space where the audience meets and socializes before the show and during the intermission.

Spectators who came at the opening of the season did not hide their fascination and joy towards the artistically renovated hall of the Romanian National Theater in Chisinau.

"Despite the material and financial difficulties, the love for theater and beauty is the land where differences, of any kind, including ethnic ones, can coexist harmoniously. It happened at the National Theater in Chisinau in 1925. Theater is an art of emotions and intelligence that real lives and has the power to awaken the spirit and unite hearts ", said Petru Hadârcă.
