Over 800 hectares of land damaged by bad weather

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/- Over 800 hectares of agricultural land and orchards were affected by yesterday's wind and rain.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, due to strong wind and hail, damages were registered in two localities from Soldanesti district. In Pohoarna locality, the precipitations affected 80 hectares of corn, 330 ha of wheat and over 120 ha of sunflower, and in Cotiujenii Mari 63 ha of corn and 34 ha of sunflower were destroyed.

The rain affected part of the agricultural crops in Slobozia-Cremene, Soroca district, where the bad weather conditions destroyed 40 ha of orchards, 95 ha of sugar beet and 65 ha of sunflower.

Due to the wind and rain, agricultural crops were affected in several localities in Telenesti and Edinet districts. Emergency commissions are to estimate the material damage recorded.
