09:32 | 21.05.2021 Category: Official

Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/- The 11 May tragic incident occurred with direct involvement of police illegally deployed by Tiraspol in the Security Zone was in the attention of the Joint Control Commission and the 20 May weekly meeting in Bender, the Office of Reintegration Policy has reported.

The Moldovan delegation requested the withdrawal from the Security Zone of the “border guards” formations, as established in the main documents of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester.

At the proposal of the Russian delegation, it was decided that the discussion of the issue would continue at the next meeting, requiring additional documentation on the incident.

During the meeting, a representative of the Russian Federation was confirmed as military commander of Bender - district with increased security.

During the examination of the issue on the execution of the service at the posts of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces located near Vadul lui Vodă, the proposals identified by the Joint Military Command for the post located on the right bank of the Dniester were noted. In this regard, the Chisinau delegation suggested the gradual implementation of the necessary measures, before reaching a consensus for the bridge on the left bank. Unfortunately, the Transnistrian side opposed the initiative, which will delay the process of improving the operating conditions of the posts.

Referring to illegal checkpoints of Tiraspol set during the pandemic, the Russian delegation was committed to identify a viable solution leading to the implementation of the decision of 24 September 2020 by which the Joint Military Command is obliged to clarify any case of rejection of deployment of military observers from 12 March 2020 and report on the action taken. The Transnistrian side's refusal to accept the movement of military observers for the regular documentation of illegal posts has led to the failure to approve several incomplete reports of the Joint Military Command over the past year.

In the same context, the Joint Military Command was ordered to contrast the information on illegal posts in the Security Zone set out in the monitoring reports of the OSCE Mission to Moldova with military observers report data, and a comprehensive analysis to be submitted to the Joint Control Commission.
