Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu conveyed a congratulatory message to all Ukrainians of Moldova on the International Vyshyvanka Day, marked on 20 May, the presidential press service has reported.
„I am happy that this nice and symbolic holiday has reached its tenth edition. The traditions of the Ukrainian community from Moldova harmoniously fit in the country’s cultural landscape,’’ reads Maia Sandu’s message, submitted by the presidential adviser in the culture sector, Angela Brașoveanu Erizanu, who attended the festivity.
„ Vyshyvanka is the symbol of the Ukrainian spirituality and culture. Just as our ancestors’ national shirt, it has a rich symbolical meaning and conveys, from century to century and from generation to generation, deep symbols telling about the life and death, about honesty and dignity, about stages in the human existence,’’ the message by President Maia Sandu reads.
The head of state congratulated the community of Ukrainian women from Moldova, National Congress of Ukrainians and Association of Ukrainian Youth for the organization of the event, through which the Ukrainian identity, culture and tradition are celebrated in Moldova, with the 2021 years issue dedicated to the environment.
