Police, rescuers intervened to reduce risk of flooding

Chisinau, 6 August /MOLDPRES/- Following last night's heavy rains, police and rescuers intervened in several localities in the country to reduce the risk of flooding. Hundreds of police officers from the territorial subdivisions, together with employees of the General Inspectorate of Emergency Situations (IGSU) and local authorities, were with the citizens so that their households would not be flooded.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the risks of blocking the sections of public roads, lakes, rivers and water basins, as well as the houses located in the risk areas were verified and evaluated. Currently, three sections are blocked (one in Leova and two in Straseni).
Law enforcement officers intervened in dozens of cases, where they provided help to people from Criuleni, Ialoveni, Leova and Ocnita. At the same time, the police monitor the road traffic in these localities, in order to prevent accidents.
