Moldovan government approved amendment to Law on regime of civilian weapons and ammunition

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- At today's government meeting, the project on adjustment of the normative framework was approved, by amending Law No130/2012 on the regime of weapons and ammunition for civilian purposes, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Legislative changes will ensure effective control of import, export, re-export and transit operations of arms and ammunition, as well as the prompt identification of risks to national security and public order. At the same time, completing the legislation regulating the process of applying the traceability mark on imported or exported firearms, as well as on the surface of those introduced or permanently removed from the territory of the Republic of Moldova will contribute to the international prosecution of weapons lost, stolen or involved in crime and increasing public safety and eradicating their illegal proliferation.
Thus, the legislative amendments aim to promote the safety and protection of citizens, through reliable mechanisms for the control of civilian weapons, and the Republic of Moldova will be in a safe space and outside risk areas. We note that the assistance of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Assistance Department of the Center for Conflict Prevention / Forum for Security Co-operation (CPC / FSC), the Southeast European Agency for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SEESAC) was requested.
