Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, along with a team of advisers, visited the Peresecina settlement, central Orhei district, on 14 October. The head of state discussed with local residents the problems of the settlement, which is one of the biggest in the region and the situation in Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
„I made sure, this time too, that, no matter where they live, people want, first of all, justice. I assured them that the justice reform is the concern of the new governance as well. We have started making proper order in state’s institutions, so that they work for the citizens, not for interest groups. We began amending laws, which is to allow cleaning the system of corruption; we started the fight with the schemes, through which money and the state’s wealth are embezzled; several measures were adopted, in order to back the low-income people,’’ President Maia Sandu stressed in the discussions with residents from Peresecina.
According to the head of state, there are more important sectors, which, given that as they have been ignored during more years, need urgent interventions. Sandu highlighted, in the context, the infrastructure, regional development, environmental protection and extending woods, energy security and sustainable agriculture, investments in education and health.
Maia Sandu thanked the local residents for their suggestions, which will help authorities take better decisions for the communities. ‘’I was happy to know involved and well-informed citizens in Peresecina. I thanked them for the fact that they had got vaccinated, which is a compulsory condition for participating in the meeting. We experience dramatic times – the people’s life and health is our priority No 1 and the vaccine is presently the only solution to protect ourselves before the new wave of the pandemic,’’ President Maia Sandu added.
