Moldova counts on USAID's support for real reform of justice, anti-corruption figfht

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power, who is in Chisinau on her first visit abroad in this office, the presidential press service has reported.
The discussions are the meeting were focused on the projects carried out by USAID in Moldova, in various sectors. ‘’We spoke about major investments made by the USA for the modernization of the light industry from Moldova, for backing the small business and the competitive agriculture or for the development of the IT sector and innovations,’’ the head of state said. A big USAID programme in the digital field, worth 32 million dollars, Future Technologies, will be launched in Chisinau today evening. The programme will promote innovations and will help us advance on the way of the digital economy.
President Maia Sandu appreciated the United States’ effort to support the democracy, civil society and the independent media from Moldova and thanked for the help provided in the fight with the pandemic. ‘’We count on USAID’s support, including for a real reform of justice and anti-corruption fight, as key elements for developing the country’s economy and ensuring the people’s well-being,’’ the head of state stressed.
For her part, Samantha Power gave assurances that the USA would further support Moldova and its reforms’ agenda.
