Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/- Decree and law on the ratification of the Optional Protocol to the United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities were published today in the Official Journal and entered into force.
The document regulates the competence of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities regarding the procedure for receiving and analyzing communications from or on behalf of persons or groups of persons who claim to be victims of violations of the rights of persons with disabilities by a UN Convention State Party, and sets out the clear procedure for examining individual complaints.
Thus, the government will take the necessary measures to implement the provisions of the said protocol, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will prepare and submit to the depositary the instrument of ratification.
The Republic of Moldova ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2010. Currently, the Optional Protocol has been signed by 94 states and ratified by 100 states.
