Local polls' runoff to take place in Balti city, othjer five rural settlements of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has established the date of 5 December for the holding of the runoff of the new local elections in the Balti municipality and other five rural settlements.   

The CEC members established that the names of the first two candidates, who picked up most number of votes at the new local polls held on 21 November 2021, would be written in the ballot papers. The registration of the two candidates in the ballot paper will be made in the descending order of the number of validly got votes in the first round of the ballot. If one of the candidates withdraws from the electoral race seven days before the voting day at the latest, the ballot will be held with the participation of the candidate left and the next candidate who got the largest number of votes in the first round of the polls.    

At the runoff, the voting will take place based on the same electoral lists as at the first round of the ballot.

CEC ruled that the sum of financial means which can be transferred to the account, Electoral Fund, of the electoral contenders participating in the runoff election should not exceed the ceiling earlier established for the new local elections from 21 November, which includes the expenses already reported for the first round of the voting.   

The runoff of the new local polls for the mayor office will be carried out in the Balti municipality, Opaci village, Causeni district, Hartop commune, Cimislia district, Cupcini town, Edinet district, Balceana village, Hancesti district and Cneazevca commune, Leova district.
