EU officials visit Moldova two years after Wine Road included in European Cultural Route

Chisinau, Feb. 3 / MOLDPRES /- Two years since the wine routes of the Moldovan Wine Road were included in the European Cultural Route of vines and wine, Iter Vitis, part of the Cultural Route Program of the Council of Europe, the unique wine routes of our country have got distinctions and appreciations.
At the invitation of the National Association for Inbound Tourism of Moldova (ANTRIM), Stefano Dominioni, director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes, and Emanuela Panke, president of the Iter Vitis federation, met with Minister of Culture, representatives of the National Vine Office and Wine and winemakers. They visited a number of tourist routes in the country, to capitalize on the cultural potential and identify new opportunities to increase the notoriety of wine tourism routes.
"Moldovan wine is a symbol of European identity, erected by a vast culture, a valuable wine heritage cultivated over the centuries. Testimony are the old cellars, the popular wine culture, but also the local varieties that offer quality and international recognition. Thanks to the opportunity to discover the cultural heritage, gastronomy, rural life and hospitality of Moldovans, Wine Road becomes a competitive product, which will help preserve the biodiversity and authenticity of the tourist offer, and Council of Europe certification gives excellence and rallying values fundamentals of modern society ", Stefano Dominioni said.
For her part, Emanuela Panke, President of the Iter Vitis Federation, said that the affiliation of the Wine Road to the European network of cultural routes is a success of the notorious wine tourism industry in Moldova. The millennial heritage in winemaking, the uniqueness of underground galleries and the authenticity of wines are the strengths of this tourist product offered by Moldova, which we will continue to promote to tourists in search of new wine tourism discoveries.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Culture, the officials exchanged views on the participation of the Republic of Moldova in the initiatives supported by the Council of Europe on the dimensions: culture, heritage and cultural tourism. In this context, the opportunity for Moldova to join the Council of Europe's Cultural Routes Program was discussed.
The pan-European network of wine routes and tourism experiences - Iter Vitis - Les Chemins de la Vigne integrates the wine heritage of 18 states and aims to promote oeno-cultural travel, global values, diversity and intercultural dialogue.
Moldovan Wine Road includes seven unique wine and gastronomic itineraries, 30 wineries, wineries, wineries, dozens of events and cultural-tourist, historical and gastronomic experiences, has a length of 1560 kilometers of circuits, which pass through the three wine regions with Protected Geographical Indication, being marked with 450 tourist road signs.
