Moldovan president meets Russian Ambassador

Chisinau, 3 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met Ambassador of Russia to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov. The officials exchanged opinions on the most important subjects on the bilateral agenda between the two countries, the presidential press service has reported.

The sides tackled problems in the energy and economic sectors. At the same time, the head of state appreciated the progress made in the negotiations on the agreement on social protection of Moldova’s citizens who live or work in Russia. Maia Sandu stressed the importance of the as quick as possible signing of this document. The Moldovan president also welcomed the Russian side’s willingness to contribute to the reconstruction of two culture institutions from Moldova.

President Maia Sandu reiterated the Moldovan authorities’ interest in the advancement of the dialogue on the subject of destruction of the ammunitions stocked at the Cobasna depot on the left bank of Dniester. As for the regional context, the head of state voiced hope that a peaceful solution would be identified and that the dialogue would lead to the de-escalation of the situation.
