Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets European Commission official

Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has discussed with Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission Katarina Mathernova, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service reported.
At the meeting, the two officials referred to ways of implementing the steps necessary to be followed after the getting of the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union.
„We already have a first draft of the way we see the implementation of these actions and during the next weeks we are to have more details coordinated with the European partners as to the indicators based on which the Commission will assess the level of carrying out, the period of monitoring and the methodology of evaluation, as well as the agreeing on the stages which come after the fulfillment of the concerned steps,’’ Foreign Affairs Minister Nicu Popescu said.
„All reforms set regard the consolidation of the state institutions, strengthening of the economy, justice reform and enhancing the capacities of the institutions which must combat the corruption,’’ the Moldovan deputy PM added.
