Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/ - The construction of two regional hospitals from the Balti and Cahul municipalities is to be finished in the next three years. Health Minister Ala Nemerenco today made statements to this effect at a news conference.
The projects’ carrying out will be financed by the European Investment Bank and the Council of Europe Development Bank.
As for the stage of work concerning the building of the hospital from Balti, the official said that there was a feasibility study, which must be adjusted to the present needs in the sector. ‘’An international expert was employed, who already completes the study’s adjusting. Afterwards, the plot of land where the hospital is to be constructed is to be chosen. Subsequently, we will start discussions on the signing of the agreements between Moldova’s government and the financers,’’ Ala Nemerenco said.
At the same time, as for the working stage regarding the Cahul municipal hospital, the minister stressed that experts were to work out a prefeasibility study, within which statistics data will be processed about the flow of patients, the hospitals’ capacity and where the concerned calculations will be made.
„We have found financial sources to carry out these expertises. We hope that, in the end of this year, we will be able to sign the financing agreement, so that next year, we start the designing and construction works. The two hospitals will bring together more departments and services of neurosurgery, cardio-surgery, intensive therapy, oncological services and diagnosis services. In next autumn, we will have a plan as regards the human resources at the new hospitals. We want to be able to provide modern medical services also in other cities of Moldova than Chisinau; citizens have been expecting this change for a long time,’’ Ala Nemerenco said.
About 300,000 citizens from north Moldova will benefit from medical services. At the same time, over 120,000 citizens from the southern regions will be able to benefit from medical assistance at the new hospital in the Cahul city. The health sector authorities informed that there was no risk for other hospitals from the country to be closed after the opening of the two aforementioned hospitals.
