Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today welcomed the EU Council’s decision to provide 40 million euros to Moldova’s Armed Forces, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
In a statement, the Moldovan official says:
„I welcome the decision by the European Union’s Council, which adopted additional assistance, within the European Peace Facility, worth 40 million euros, for the benefit of Moldova’s Armed Forces.
The support provided will strengthen the capacities of the units of logistics, command and control, cyber defence, air recognition without pilot and tactical communications of the Armed Forces through the supply of non-lethal equipment and related services, including training dealing with the aforementioned equipment.
This assistance will complete the support worth 7 million euros, adopted in December 2021, which consolidates the capacities of the Military Medical Service and the Engineering Battalion of the Armed Forces.
This is a joint result with the team of the Defence Ministry and an extra proof of the European Union’s contribution to our country’s capacities to consolidate the national security, stability and resilience.’’
