Moldova participates in 11th edition of World Urban Forum

Chisinau, 4 July /MOLDPRES/ - A delegation of the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR), representatives of regional development institutions and local administration from Moldova last week took part in the 11th edition of the World Urban Forum titled, Transforming Our Cities for a Better Urban Future, held in Poland.
The event’s agenda included subjects on the world tendencies and perspectives of urban development. A world level dialogue between cities was established at the Forum. The participants in the event discussed new models of urban development, as well as challenges and the impact of the urbanization on the cities, economies, environment and public policies.
During discussions organized by the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy from Poland, titled, Poland’s Cooperation within EU’s Eastern Partnership – Challenges and Success Factors in Building a System of Urban Revival in Moldova, the Moldovan delegation presented the experience, results and good practices in the process of revival of under-developed urban areas. ‘’Our country’s experience in the urban revival was unveiled as a successful example and which is known in the countries of Europe,’’ MIDR said.
The participants in the discussion debated subjects of common interest and perspectives of cooperation with partners from Poland in the field of urban development and revival of degraded urban areas.
The World Urban Forum was organized by the United Nations, in cooperation with the Polish Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy, in Katowice, Poland, on 26-30 June. The event is held once in two years and brings together representatives of governments and specialists in the urban development sector.
