Former employee of Moldova's General Police Inspectorate to be tried for influence peddling

Chisinau, 4 July /MOLDPRES/ - A former employee of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP) will be tried for influence peddling.
According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA), the former head of the technical supervision and traffic accidents service of the Drochia police inspectorate would have said that he would have influence on public officials from the Drochia Law Court. The Drochia police inspectorate employee said that he might prompt them to take a favourable decision as to a resident from the Drochia district, in order not to be deprived from the right to drive transport means, within a criminal file opened for driving drunk. The suspect would have received 35,000 lei (1,700 euros) for this service.
Prosecutors levied distraint on the real asset of the accused person, in order to confiscate the sum of money.
If found guilty, the man run the risk of up to five years of imprisonment or fine worth up to 150,000 lei.
